Biography

Dr. Gary Klein is an Emory University-trained family medicine specialist with more than 30 years of experience, and he has lived in the Charlotte area for more than a decade. He describes his style of practice as "very collaborative," rather than "Hey, this is what you need to do, and that's it. To really succeed, my patients and I work together. And I'm very inclined towards a preventative approach rather than just a reactive one. Let's treat you when you're ill, of course, but let's work on what's needed to keep you well."

His career spans a wide spectrum of healthcare, from emergency medicine to hormone therapy, and he has an advanced degree in public health. As a first responder during 9/11, he assisted with the development of the nation's first training program in disaster medicine. He has trained health professionals across the U.S. in patient advocacy and integrative therapies. He has practiced in both public and private settings, serving in the Department of Defense for 11 years.

Along with its emphasis on more holistic and preventative treatment, Dr. Klein says that "WellcomeMD's biggest plus is time. You know, the U.S. has some of the most advanced technologies and therapeutic modalities in the world. But during the average office visit today, there's just no time to make use of those advantages. At WellcomeMD, we can take the time to look for the underlying causes of disease, we can make use of advanced resources, and we can emphasize preventative care."

Dr. Klein has a keen appreciation for Charlotte's wealth of recreational opportunities, especially hiking and bicycling. "We're an hour from the mountains and three hours from the beach, and the park system is outstanding," he says. "We're so fortunate here."

Proactive Integrative Care

Safeguard your health with a progressive approach to prevention. We begin with a 1.5 hour, annual physical tuned to your personalized risk factors. Don't trust your health to a cursory review or a government guideline.

Physician-Led Anti-Aging

We treat the loss of strength, vitality, and sexual function that can accompany aging by understanding and treating the root causes of these symptoms. Cardiometabolic health, hormone balance, gut health, and other factors can have major impact on how you feel and perform.

90-Minute Annual Physical

We emphasize our thorough annual physical examination, which includes a series of test to chart changes in a patient’s profile. These tests are the foundation for effective health recommendations.

We Are Your Team

Our job does not stop with good advice. We create, manage, and help you execute a plan for your optimal health. We are there for you 24/7 by text, email, and phone.

Advanced Labs

Standard labs look for the most common indicators but don't take into account your personal thresholds and history. Our advanced lab panels and genetic profiling go far beyond the ordinary to detect issues before they affect your health.

Physician-Led Weight Loss

Weight loss resistance is a frustrating reality for many. While calories in/calories out matter, your hormones may matter more. We test and optimize key hormones that contribute to your sense of well being, metabolism, calorie burn, fat retention, and hunger.

Wellness Coaching

In-depth diet and fitness review with a personal health coach. Explore genetically tuned diet and exercise guidelines designed to help you feel and perform your best.

More Time for You

All of this takes time and attention. We limit our membership to half the size of most concierge practices in Richmond in order to maximize the time we spend with you.
